Cluster Snapshot

Jayadev Banana Fibre Extraction Cluster is located in 2 blocks of Khordha District of Odisha, namely Balianta block and Balipatna block. The cluster is a farmer based cluster with banana as focused products which has been grown in the area for over a century. Banana is cultivated in over 1150 Ha of land with banana output of around 21425 tons per annum in Khordha District and primarily concentrated in Balianta and Baliapatna block of the District.

As such there is no value addition to the 27209 tons of agri waste generated every year, the scope of the value addition is very high. Being a farmer based cluster, lack of knowledge and investment incapability have blocked the way for exploring value addition.
